FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                                    April 10, 2007

THEME SOUGHT FOR NORTHWESTERN HOMECOMING 2007

The annual contest to select a theme for Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s homecoming is now open to the public—on and off campus. Deadline for submitting entries is 4 p.m., Thursday, April 26.

Suggestions must be limited to 10 words or fewer and should be something that can be illustrated through designs for floats, sheet signs and dorm decorations, said Dr. Mike Knedler, chairman of the homecoming committee.

A $50 U.S. savings bond will be awarded to the person who submits the winning theme. Members of the homecoming committee are not eligible to compete for the prize.

Dr. Knedler explained that if a winning theme suggestion does not come from the public, the committee will devise one and the bond will not be awarded.

He said that the committee also is looking for suggestions for honorary parade marshal. Persons nominated must have a significant connection, current or past, to Northwestern whether as a student, faculty member, staff member, coach, administrator or friend of the university.

Entries and nominations may be turned in at the Alva Chamber of Commerce Office, the Northwestern University Relations Office in Room 109 of Vinson Hall or in an entry box in the Northwestern Bookstore in the Student Center.
