WILBER PARTICIPATING IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE
Dr. Patti Wilber, director of the Walch Center for Business Development at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, has completed Session I of the Economic Development Institute (OU/EDI) conducted by the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City last month.
The OU/EDI is a three-session program, each one week long, that provides a broad spectrum of advanced education for the economic development professional and is accredited by the International Economic Development Council.
The classes focus on the three major core areas of business retention and expansion, real estate and finance, as well as areas of concentration in marketing, strategic planning and managing economic development organizations. Students complete 117 hours of instruction selected from more than 50 seminars, workshops and discussion groups.
Begun in 1962, OU/EDI now has more than 3,400 graduates.
“This intense program was filled with valuable information for fostering economic development activities in northwest Oklahoma,” Wilber said. “Networking with others from across the nation provides a wealth of community and professional contacts. Universities such as Northwestern are continuing to play a major role in regional economic development activities and communities benefit from this collaboration.”
