CASE WINS SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL JOURNALISTS AWARDS

            Valarie Case, university relations specialist at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, recently received two awards from the Oklahoma Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

            Case placed first in the newsletter category of the public relations division for the electronic newsletter “On the Record.” Judging was based on overall context, appearance and readability.

She received third place in the photographic portfolio category for division C newspapers.

            Portfolio entrants were required to include five photos. Case submitted photos of soccer player Sherina Wood, assistant football coach Brian Mohnsen on the sidelines, a football action shot, the ice storm and campus Christmas lights.

            Judging was based on skill of composition, technical expertise and overall excellence.

            The judging covered entries created between July 1, 2004, and June 30, 2005.
