TWELVE ACCEPTED FOR PROFESSIONAL SCIENCE PROGRAMS

Twelve Northwestern Oklahoma State University undergraduates, graduating seniors and graduates have been selected for advanced study in various medical fields.

Tonya Baker of Alva, 2004 graduate in chemistry and biology, will be attending the American University of the Caribbean Medical School in the Virgin Islands. Tiffany Holt, a December graduate in biology from Perryton, Texas, is going to the University of Houston’s College of Optometry.

Natalie Loeser, Byron senior in biology, will be a student in the Oklahoma State University School of Veterinary Medicine, and Taylor Schwerdtfeger, a junior from Alva, has been accepted to the Parker College of Chiropractic Medicine in Dallas, Texas.

Adam Holder and Lacey Freeman, both sophomores from Alva, have been accepted to the Palmer College of Chiropractic Medicine of Davenport, Iowa, through its accelerated admissions program, and Jamie Beck, graduating senior from Vici, has been accepted for doctoral studies in physical therapy at Texas Tech. She’s also waiting to hear from the physical therapy program at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

Michael Rutherford of Wooster, Ohio, and Lindsay Longest Rutherford of Pleasant Hill, Mo., have been accepted into the graduate program in chemistry at the University of Arkansas.

Trey Carlisle, graduating senior from Laverne, is on the alternate’s list at Northeastern State University’s College of Optometry.

Arian Abdulla, a senior from Vlore, Albania, studying pre-medicine, has accepted an offer at the University of Rochester Medical Center for a 10-week undergraduate research program in biomedical genetics. He also was offered summer programs at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the OU Health Sciences Center.

            Mandrin Shima from Baldushk, Albania, has been accepted at the OU Health Sciences Center for a 10-week summer undergraduate research program in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
