PBL MEMBERS ‘UNLOCKING THEIR POTENTIAL,’ HEADING TO NATIONALS
Five Northwestern Oklahoma State University Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) business club members have qualified for national competition after placing first or second in their categories at the state’s annual PBL Spring Leadership Conference in Tulsa.
Students from several colleges and universities from across the state competed in the “Unlocking Your Potential” themed conference. All students placing in the top two positions automatically qualify for the National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tenn., June 24-27. Students placing third through fifth also may have a chance to represent their universities at the competition if a qualifying student is unable to attend.d.
Those students qualifying for national competition, hometown and classification, the categories in which they qualified and their placing are as follows:
Cammie Vloedman, Oklahoma City graduate student, Management Analysis & Decision Making, first, and Marketing Analysis & Decision Making, second; Michon Hooper-Goerdt, Waukomis senior, Financial Concepts, first, and Accounting Principles, third; Linh Tran, Vietnam junior, International Business, first, PBL Leadership, third, and Business Communications, fourth; LeeAnn Leist, Alva senior, Management Concepts, second, and Marketing Concepts, fourth; Nikki Reed, Mooreland senior, Hospitality Management, second, and Business Communications, fifth.
Petya Yordanova, Bulgaria junior, and Megan Loomis, Mooreland junior, placed fifth in each of their categories. Yordanova was in the Management Concepts and Marketing Concepts competition, and Loomis was in Computer Concepts. Loomis also competed in Hospitality Management.
PBL sponsors Brenda Rebarchik and L. VanOsdel are pleased with their group’s efforts.
“We are proud of all who attended this year’s conference, and we are pleased that all of these students did so well on their tests,” Rebarchik said. “We have a wonderful group of students who are enthusiastic, and we look forward to their attending Nationals.”
PBL is a national business education association for college students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields. The mission of the organization is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.
