NORTHWESTERN MASS COMMUNICATIONS STUDENTS DO WELL AT CONTEST
Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s mass communications students did well at the Oklahoma Collegiate Press Association (OCPA) awards in Stillwater on April 7.
Award winners from Northwestern include:
Bradley Gilbert, Enid junior, third place, feature photography; Carlinda Carmack, Fairview senior, second place, display ads; Kiel Hauck, Medicine Lodge, Kan., senior, honorable mention, column writing; and Kayte Anton, Norco, Calif., post-graduate, honorable mention, column writing.
“ “I’m proud of the individual student awards,” Melanie Wilderman, Northwestern News adviser, said. “Northwestern has some talented student-journalists.”
The Northwestern News also received an award of merit for front page design and honorable mention for overall newspaper.
“OCPA has high standards, and it’s always an honor to place,” Wilderman said. “I’m pleased with my staff and their hard work since I started in August, and I’m looking forward to that hard work reflecting even more at next year’s competition.”
