LEADERSHIP NORTHWESTERN STUDENTS VISIT CHESAPEAKE CAMPUS
Northwestern Oklahoma State University students involved in the Leadership Northwestern Class visited Chesapeake Energy Corporation on Thursday, April 13.
The students were able to meet various company senior vice presidents, tour the facilities and eat dinner in The Wildcat, Chesapeake’s on-site restaurant. The students also had the opportunity to visit with past Northwestern graduates who are now employed at Chesapeake.

Each member of the class was designated as a Chesapeake scholar and received a plaque.e.
Jocelyn Sweeden, member of the Leadership Northwestern class enjoyed the day.
“It was fun to see Chesapeake’s headquarters,” Sweeden said. “Chesapeake staff members were so welcoming and touring the beautiful campus really makes you want to go to work there. It was exciting to meet the company officers and visit with them during dinner.”
Leadership Northwestern is a class that was founded by a gift from Chesapeake. Students are selected by a committee and each receives a $500 scholarship from Chesapeake.
Each week, the students are able to hear a different perspective about leadership from various members of Northwestern’s senior staff.
“Leadership Northwestern is designed to teach our students about effective leadership and the value of becoming involved as a leader in their future communities,” Dr. Steve Lohmann, vice president for academic affairs said.
Members of the Leadership Northwestern class are: Ana Cash, senior nursing major, Bartlesville; Valerie Curry, senior speech/theatre communications major, Enid; Megan Fowler, senior early childhood education major, Mesa, Ariz.; Crystina Griffin, junior biology major, Lawton; Dee Dee Miller, senior mass communications major, Waynoka; Adam Riggs, junior agri-business major, Laverne; Sweeden, senior mass communications major, Shattuck; Paige Swenty, senior elementary education major, Glenpool; Michell Thomason, senior mathematics major, Lahoma; Linh Tran, junior business administration major, Vietnam; and Wanda Zwanziger, senior business administration major, Woodward.
