NORTHWESTERN FACULTY PARTICIPATE IN NURSING SEMINAR 

            Three members of the nursing faculty at Northwestern Oklahoma State University will participate Friday in a seminar at the Kramer School of Nursing at Oklahoma City University.

            Dr. Lannie Buechner, chair of the Division of Nursing; Kay Elder, instructor in nursing; and Deborah Buttrum, instructor in nursing, will join Joyce Van Ostrand of Northeastern Oklahoma State University to present a discussion titled “Know Your Communities: Creative Clinical Experiences.”

            Between 200 and 300 hundred persons are expected to attend the seminar. It is targeted toward nursing faculty, nurse educators (diabetes, cardiac rehabilitation, etc.), staff development specialists, childbirth educators, parent educators and community educators.

            In addition to the Northwestern presentations, some topics expected to be included are Using Humor Effectively, Addressing Sensitive Topics, Enhancing Critical Thinking Skills, Developing Effective Educational Materials and Teaching Special Needs Clients.
