RODEO TEAM COMPETES AT OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE STATE UNIVERSITY

The Northwestern Oklahoma State University rodeo team was in action last weekend at the Oklahoma Panhandle State University.

“I’m very proud of everyone on the team,” said coach Tim Kolb. “We had 16 make the short round. They realize we’re running out of time with only two rodeos left. I expect they will rise to the occasion as we go to Southwestern this weekend.”

            Results are as follows:

Calf Roping

§         Preston Billadeau, Parshall, N.D. junior—Long round, 11.5 seconds, 10th; short round, 10.8 seconds, 4th; average, 6th.

§         K.W. Lauer, Buffalo freshman—Long round, 10.9 seconds, 7th; short round, 20.9, 10th; average, 10th.

§         Troy Hermelbracht, Homer, Neb., senior—Long round, 10.7 seconds, 5th; short round, 11.4 seconds, 7th; average, 5th.

Team Roping

“Odenbach and Hermelbracht drew a terrible steer that stopped right outside the roping

chute, making it virtually impossible to catch him,” Kolb said.

Goat Tying

“Teddi’s horse pulled a tendon in his leg and she had to ride Jessica’s horse. It’s difficult to

get on an unfamiliar horse. He ran over the rope holding goat which gave her a 10-second penalty,” Kolb said. “Jessica has won the last two rodeos in this event and is determined to make it to the national finals. I’m very proud of her.
