MlPACT TO CLOSE OUT CONCERT SERIES
The five young members of mlpact describe themselves as a “full-time, mic & mouth (some call it a cappella) outfit based out of Seattle.” The group has been in existence since 1995 and divides its time between touring, recording and being clinicians.
mlpact
is the final presentation in the 2003-2004 Northwest Oklahoma Concert Series and
will perform at 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, in Herod Hall Auditorium on the
campus of Northwestern Oklahoma
State University.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and may be purchased at Holder Drug, Schuhmacher’s, Alva Chamber of Commerce and the Northwestern Bookstore.
mlpact has toured extensively in the United States, as well as internationally, including stops in Singapore, Canada, Italy, Germany and Tunisia. After appearing in Alva, the group has scheduled performances in Ohio, Illinois, Kansas, Colorado and Washington.
mlpact has released four CDs, “Limited Edition,” “The Carol Commission,” “2” and “It’s All About Harmony.” The group also has joined other a cappella singers on a number of other albums.

“The Carol Commission” earned two Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards, one for best holiday album and another for best holiday song, “Caroling, Caroling.”
Jake Moulton is the group’s baritone and “human drum machine.” He has wide experience in musical theatre and he studied at Edmonds Community College, where he toured extensively with the vocal jazz ensemble Soundsation. Moulton has founded, co-directed and performed in professional groups for more than half his life. He contributes a fresh R & B flavor and strong songwriting to mlpact.
Trist Ethan Curless brings a warm, laid-back style to his role as the group’s bass and alternate percussionist. He also takes on the task of booking coordinator for mlpact. A music education major at the University of Northern Colorado, he participated in many ensembles ranging from opera to vocal jazz. Curless serves as an adjudicator and clinician at music festivals across the country. He is one of the founders of mlpact.
Britt Quentin soars higher and higher as the group’s alto lead. He studied music education and vocal performance at Wayne State University in his native Michigan. He studied violin for 11 years and participated in church and community music programs since the age of 6. He has a double role as mlpact’s artistic director and production manager.
Rudy Cardenas, a native of Venezuela, is mlpact’s newest member. The group’s alto/tenor, he brings diversity and an exciting Latin flare to the stage. A graduate in vocal performance from the University of Northern Colorado, he performed in musical theatre, the university’s top jazz group and alongside Latin

guitarist Manuel Molina. He previously worked in New York City’s theatre and club scene.
Marco Cassone is a dynamic tenor performer and co-founder of mlpact with Curless. He studied vocal performance and the psychology of music at the University of Washington. While still a student, he started and managed his own children’s entertainment business, taught vocal music and acted as musical director of a Seattle-based theatre company. He is mlpact’s business director.
