NORTHWESTERN ART SHOW RUNS THROUGH APRIL 22

 

            Northwestern Oklahoma State University students and employees are showcasing their talents at an art show that begins today and runs through Thursday, April 22, in the J.W. Martin Library.

            The show encompasses 16 categories in four divisions, including Flatwork—oil/acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pen/pencil/ink and mixed media; Graphics—film photography, digital photography and digital art; Textiles—quilting, leatherwork, needlework and fiber arts; and 3-D/Functional Art—sculpture (wood, metal, mineral), designer arts/jewelry, decorative painting and wood work.

            The show is sponsored by Student Advocates for the Arts (SAA), a new campus organization. Angelia Case, instructional media technician, is the group’s sponsor. She said that 32 students and 14 employees have entered 135 pieces in the show.

            For students, cash prizes of $50 will be given to the first place winners in each of the four divisions and certificates will be given to first, second and third place winners in each category. There also will be a $50 cash prize to the student winner of Best in Show.

            Employees will receive certificates for first, second and third placings and for Best in Show.

            All entrants are eligible for the $50 People’s Choice Award which will be voted by viewers of the exhibit.
