FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 22, 2004
For the fifth consecutive year, Gary and Karen Adams, owners and operators of the local Sonic Drive-In, have added to an endowment for scholarships at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
“The Adams are staunch supporters of our scholarship program,” said Jane McDermott, executive director of the Foundation. “They have made a significant contribution to the enhancement of Northwestern by making scholarship funds available to attract quality students to the university. Not only do they support current scholarships, they fund a permanent endowment”
“We also appreciate their support of many Northwestern programs by offering fund-raising opportunities,” she added.
To be eligible for a Sonic scholarship, students must meet all normal scholarship criteria and must attend classes on the Alva campus. Applicants may be first-time students from any high school or may be transfer students.
“The support of the Adams family, as well as many other local business people, is much needed and much appreciated,” McDermott said.
Karen (Arndt) Adams is a 1991 graduate of Northwestern.
