Psychology Department

The Psychology Department at NWOSU offers a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Counseling Psychology degree which meets some of the requirements to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (L.P.C.) in the state of Oklahoma.  The coursework needed to complete L.P.C.  requirements are offered post-Master’s at NWOSU.

Courses are offered on three campuses:  Alva, Enid, and Woodward.  The MCP program is offered fully on the Alva and Enid campuses.  Undergraduate courses are offered in Alva, Enid, and Woodward.  Currently the complete undergraduate program is offered only in Alva.  Required courses are offered in both Alva and Enid and enough electives are currently offered in Enid to complete the Psychology major.  Some graduate and undergraduate courses are offered in Woodward.

The department uses interactive television as a distance learning tool to hold some graduate and undergraduate courses on multiple sites.

Mark W. Davis, Ph.D., Associate Professor

An undergraduate major usually spends the first 2-3 semesters fulfilling general education coursework before entering the upper-division psychology courses and deciding on a minor area of study.  Possible minors include sociology, social  work, business administration, computer science, and biology. The courses needed to complete a major in psychology are specified.
