The College of Dentistry at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center (OU HSC) in Oklahoma City, OK requires the applicant for admission to have completed a minimum of 90 semester hours of college prerequisite courses. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale for all course work attempted is required. Most applicants will have earned a considerably higher cumulative GPA and have completed a Bachelor’s degree.
All applicants must take the Dental Admission Test (DAT) prior to application. The DAT test may be retaken for a total of 3 times (at least 90 days between tests). A letter of recommendation from Northwestern’s Pre-Professional Advisory Committee is also required (please see Dr. Cindy Pfeifer-Hill, Chair of Natural Science Department, to set up an interview and for more details). Documented volunteer or work experience in the dental field is highly desirable. Also, hobbies that demonstrate good manual dexterity (wood working, needle point, art work, motor cycle repair, model building, etc.) are a plus.
