ALVA, Okla. - Northwestern Oklahoma State University has announced a "Pink Night" to be held in conjunction with senior night on Thursday evening. Both squads will take on Southern Nazarene with the women's game scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip and men to follow at the conclusion of the women's game.
A ceremony for the seven seniors on the men's and women's basketball teams will be held immediately following the women's game. The NWOSU women's basketball team will be wearing pink t-shirts to support the fight against breast cancer.
Students and faculty members are encouraged to wear pink for Thursday's games which both the women and men need to win to keep pace in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament race.
The women are 9-9 in SAC play and are in a three-way tie for fifth place in the conference. The Lady Rangers hold a full two game lead on John Brown, which is currently the first team out in the conference tournament race.
The men are 8-10 in SAC play and tied with Oklahoma City for the final tournament spot. The Rangers are 9-3 at home on the season and desperately need to find a way to beat the Crimson Storm before hitting the road for the season's final three regular season games.
Thursday is the final home game for seven NWOSU seniors (Autumn Klugh, Ronita Coleman, Talythia Williams, Anna Farias, Thiago Guilherme, Jeremy Felton and Jackson Kajander).
