Pete Nesseralla, Academic Advisor
Pete returns to Alva after a seventeen year absence to fill the position of Academic Advisor for both the Upward Bound and the Upward Bound Math and Science programs. A graduate of Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Pete has been working for the Federal Government for the past thirteen years. Prior to that, he worked as a financial advisor in the Boston, Massachusetts area.
A 1984 graduate of Braintree High School (MA), Pete was a member of the Braintree High baseball team that won both the 1984 High School and American Legion State titles. Pete went on to attend Murray State College in Tishomingo, Oklahoma on a baseball scholarship. While at Murray State, Pete majored in education and minored in business. Upon completion of his studies at Murray State, Pete transferred to Phillips University in Enid to continue his education while attending again on a baseball scholarship. After Phillips University dropped baseball, Pete came to Northwestern to finish both his degree and his playing career. In the fall of 1989 Pete was hired as the assistant baseball coach at NWOSU by current Upward Bound academic advisor, Joe Phillips. The two paired together to turn around the baseball program from a 16-38 team in 1989 to a 31-25 team in 1991 which included a berth in the regional tournament.
The past seventeen years Pete has worked for the South Shore Baseball Club (Hingham, MA.) in a variety of positions. One thing he is known for in that area is his ability to prepare and place their college bound students.
Pete is also currently the assistant baseball coach at NWOSU and is working on his Masters degree which he plans on completing in the fall of 2012. Pete has three children Brandon (13), Shannon (12), and Baylee (1 month) .
