Businesses across Alva will be turning red and black as part of Homecoming week festivities at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Oct. 19-24.
As an added attraction to Homecoming, the Northwestern-Alva Homecoming Committee is encouraging local businesses to decorate the exterior and interior of their businesses in the school colors of red and black to show their support for the Rangers and Homecoming. Employees also are encouraged to wear red and black.
The business with the best display will be presented a trophy that will stay in their business until the following Homecoming.
Judging will begin at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23, with the winner announced on Saturday, Oct. 24, following the parade during ceremonies at the stage on the west side of the Woods County Courthouse.
Businesses with message signs also are asked to place Homecoming related messages on their signs during Homecoming week.
Businesses who wish to enter the Paint the Town Red contest are asked to contact Steve Valencia, Homecoming chairman, at (580) 327-8478 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
