The Fall semester is well underway at Northwestern with classes, club meetings, athletics, etc. This week is a busy one for everyone as the university prepares for Family Day on Saturday. (See story below for more details.)
Tonight is the Ranger Rally. The event is free and open to the public with the first 250 getting a hotdog; however, only the first 250 Northwestern students with current ID will get a t-shirt. Students also are eligible to play games on the field.

The Woods County Fair also takes place this week Thursday through Saturday at the Fairgrounds, just south of the Alva Rec Center. Northwestern has an informational booth in the "Merchants Building," and volunteers will be signing visitors up for great prizes and sharing information about the university.
Lots of other events are going on as well, including the home opener for Soccer on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Alva Rec Center field. They play again at home on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Ranger Football's home opener is Saturday at 7 p.m.
Lady Ranger Volleyball returns to campus after more than 20 years. The home opener is Tuesday at 7 p.m. vs. Southwestern Oklahoma State.
University personnel also are involved in Friday's "First Friday Artwalk" events in downtown Alva. The English program is sponsoring a poetry reading from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Graceful Arts Center, and there will be artwork on display at the Center and at Murrow's FrameArt. The "Art Walk" takes place each first Friday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m.
Also, don't forget that Northwestern's Homecoming celebration will be here soon. The traditional Homecoming buttons that are sold to fund the event every year will go on sale Sept. 17 for $10 each. Wearing a Homecoming Button will gain you admission into the Miss Cinderella Talent Show, the Miss Cinderella Pageant and the Homecoming Football game. It's a $36 value. Buying a button helps support Homecoming even if you're not able to attend any of the events. And, it's a way for you to help advertise Homecoming when you wear the button wherever you go prior to the actual days of the event. Contact Karen Koehn, button sales chair, at kkoehn@nwtech.edu or (580) 327-0344, or contact General Homecoming chairmen Dr. Aaron Mason and Dr. Eric Schmaltz.
