Wow. Another school year is underway, so it's time to share the first newsletter of the school year! If you're looking for what's happening at the university, check out the Student Events Calendar from time to time to keep up with all that is planned and overall Calendar for even more of what is happening on campus. If you're looking for fun events in the area, visit our Arts Northwest calendar or Tourist Attractions in the Area.
If you're wanting to schedule a campus event, please visit www.nwosu.edu/event to fill out the necessary reservation form to request the room and get the item on the calendar. Please note: Even if you do not need to request a room/location, please fill out the Event Form so your item can be placed on a calendar for everyone to see.
If you have a campus news item in your area that should be shared with the community or in this newsletter, please let us know. You can always use our Submit News form that we have provided for you on the University Relations web page. Also on the University Relations web pages, you'll find a link to Publication Guidelines and Logo Standards. This will help you to know what university logos to use in your emails, publications, etc.
Students, if you're looking for a club or organization to get involved in, there are a number to choose from. They are listed at www.nwosu.edu/clubs-orgs or you can contact Jason Hillman, director of student life and counseling, for a few ideas. If you'd like to start a new club, Jason also is the person to see! He also can help with confidential counseling if needed for students and employees.
There also are a number of Student Services available that you may want to check out including a Student Handbook, and people and places that can help with your academics like the Academic Success Center and the Office of Student Retention and Graduation.
And, if you're looking for contact information for any Northwestern employee, please visit www.nwosu.edu/employee-directory. You also will find links to the Employee Handbook (for non-faculty) and the Faculty Handbook.
There also are a number of links provided on the Northwestern homepage to help you locate the information you're looking for.
Students and employees can find a lot of information on the RangerNet. Students - please know that you will receive a number of emails from the university and professors via your Northwestern email, so please get it activated and check it often. Your Northwestern email account will be the place to go to learn about school closing because of bad weather.
If you're on Facebook or Twitter and want to receive messages from the university, please "Like" our Facebook Fan Page and "Follow" us on Twitter. We also welcome faculty to provide video for placement on the Northwestern YouTube Channel. We also put a number of our photos on an online sharing site so you can see what's happening at Northwestern. You can visit www.nwosu.edu/nwosu-photos to get to the school year/semester you're looking for.
