If you're new to Northwestern, Welcome! If you're returning, Welcome Back. To all -- Ride, Rangers, Ride!
Coming to the end of our first week of a new semester. Great to see lots of new faces and many familiar ones. Hope that everyone has found this first week of school to be a good one and all the best for a great semester.
If you're new to Northwestern, this newsletter is prepared by members in Northwestern's Office of University Relations. We produce a number of press releases and photographs throughout the year and provide this information to various media outlets. We also want to keep our campus community members and supporters up to date, too, so this newsletter was created. We're starting our sixth year of producing it for you.
Campus members -- if you have a newsworthy item, please let us know about it. We have created an easy to fill out form that we hope will help you in sending us the information we need to produce a press release to share with local and area media outlets. A number of the area newspapers we send our news to are weeklies that need all news items on Fridays or no later than Mondays. Keeping that in mind will help you understand our need to have to your information submitted to our office in a timely manner prior to an event or after attending a function, etc. To use it, go to www.nwosu.edu/submit-news.
Red and Black Fridays
Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president, implemented Red and Black Fridays a couple years ago. We hope to continue this new tradition year after year, so please join in the Ranger spirit, whether you're on campus or not, support Northwestern by showing your Ranger Pride with your Red and Black on Fridays. And, be sure to where the colors with pride at all our athletic events!
Social Media Adventures
Northwestern's Facebook Fan Page is growing! We hit the 900 fan mark early this week, and at last glance we were up to 962! If you haven't become a Facebook Fan, consider doing so by going to www.facebook.com/nwosu.rangers.
Northwestern also launched a Twitter page last semester at http://twitter.com/nwosu. We're getting our feet wet slowly on YouTube and hope to share more video with you at www.youtube.com/nwokst. You'll also see below that we're uploading various photos taken throughout the year to Shutterfly. To see all photo galleries, visit www.nwosu.edu/nwosu-photos. To go directly to the photos uploaded from the summer through today, see http://nwosusummerfall2009.shutterfly.com/.
BASIC Student Council Workshop & Camp Says Thank You
The Oklahoma Association of Student Councils would like to thank the Administration of Northwestern Oklahoma State University for allowing us to hold our BASIC Student Council Workshop on their campus again this summer. Once again the administration needs to be commended for its hospitality and genuine interest and support. We definitely felt welcomed by everyone on the campus and the community.
