There's a lot going on at Northwestern, so I hope you have a chance to take part in some of the upcoming activities. Big game in Percefull Saturday
First off, there's going to be a BIG basketball game in Percefull Fieldhouse Saturday! Rogers State comes to town, and the Lady Rangers will play at 6 p.m., with the Ranger men then taking on the No. 1 team in the nation about 8 p.m.
Spirit Week starts Monday
Next week will be a really busy week. It kicks off Monday with the first of a week of activities scheduled for Spirit Week. (See story below.) And, everyone is welcome to attend the free Northwestern's Got Talent program Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Herod Hall Auditorium.
Students vs. Employees in basketball game Thursday
Northwestern employees and students should take note that the 3rd Annual Faculty/Staff vs. Students "Championship" Basketball game is set to take place in Percefull Fieldhouse immediately after the Ranger basketball games on Thursday, Feb. 12, which is around 10 p.m. Ranger fans should plan to stick around to watch the fun.
Students, if you'd like to be on the team, please contact Student Government Association President Kris Johnson.
Employees wanting to play should contact Dr. Jim Therrell or Marc Wallace.
Alumni Basketball games Feb. 13
Friday, Feb. 13, everyone is welcome to gather in Percefull Fieldhouse for the annual Alumni Basketball games to watch alumni athletes return to play each other in a game. Alumni band members will be playing in the band, and alumni cheerleaders will be cheering. Team members will begin arriving around 5 p.m. The women's game will tip and 6 p.m. with the men's game to follow. Other fun events throughout the evening are planned. Be one of the first 300 to the game and you'll get a free hot dog, courtesy of the Rowdy Rangers.
1999 NAIA Championship team, Albin to be inducted Feb. 14
Saturday, Feb. 14, also will be a special day when Northwestern welcomes its newest class into the Sports Hall of Fame. Former Ranger football player and 1999 NAIA Championship coach Tim Albin will be inducted, along with the entire championship team. A banquet to honor the inductees will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the Student Center Ballroom (RSVP and ticket required). The inductees also will be recognized during halftime of the Ranger men's basketball game. The women's game starts at 2 p.m. with the men following around 4 p.m.
