October 26, 2010

Nursing students from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and professionals from northwest Oklahoma will be inducted into the Northwest Oklahoma Honor Society of Nursing on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. in Herod Hall Auditorium. Guest speaker Dr. Katherine W. Vestal, president of Work Innovations, LLC, will speak about the importance of preparation for what is to come in health care.

Vestal also is an adjunct professor of nursing at the University of Michigan and the University of Texas at Arlington. She has extensive leadership experience in health care and a broad array of business skills. Her successful career has included positions as senior executive of patient care operations, managing partner in health care operations consulting practice and university faculty.

Vestal will travel the following day to Northwestern-Enid and speak during the Third Annual Research Conference on Friday, Oct. 29. The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This annual conference will help participants analyze the impact of health care reform on evidence-based practice; plan for effective practice in an era of health care reform; develop strategies to implement cultural competency in nursing school curriculum, implement Bio-Touch therapy; and utilize networking opportunities with colleagues.
