In 2006 the Northwest AHEC pulled together a group of dedicated companies and individuals to create a learning laboratory for nursing and health care students, are nurses, and area health care workers. This group included Paul Ketterman, Integris Bass Baptist Medical Center, St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, Northern Oklahoma College, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
This 1376 sq. ft. facility, located on the Enid Campus of NWOSU at 2929 E Randolph was designed for the use of faculty, staff, sponsors, and supporters.
At this time we have eight manikins and more than 15 standardized patient parts available for use in teaching and evaluation scenarios. The simulated patients occupy a 3-bed hospital ward, a 4-bed hospital ward, a Labor and Delivery suite, and a multipurpose ER/ICU room. The wards can be set up as a Pediatric Unit or Adult Medical/Surgical Unit.
