May 17, 2012 -- Thirty-one nursing students at Northwestern Oklahoma State University were honored with a traditional pinning ceremony on May 4, the day before their graduation. Keynote speaker was Pamela Lake, a faculty member with the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Texas, Tyler.

March 13, 2012 -- Senior nursing students and faculty from Northwestern Oklahoma State University recently attended the 2012 Legislative Day for Nurses at the Capitol. During their trip they were able to learn and voice their opinions about issues facing nursing and healthcare in Oklahoma.

Nov. 3, 2011 - Northwestern Oklahoma State University nursing faculty recently traveled to Grapevine, Texas, for the 41st Biennial Convention on Oct. 28-Nov. 2.  Dr. Carole McKenzie, professor of nursing and chair, and Cheryl Kent, instructor of nursing and assistant chair, spoke on “Social Networking and Professionalism:  Issues for Nursing Faculty.” McKenzie also spoke on the same topic at the Oklahoma Nurses' Association in Norman on Oct. 26-28. 

Nursing students from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and professionals from northwest Oklahoma will be inducted into the Northwest Oklahoma Honor Society of Nursing on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. in Herod Hall Auditorium. Guest speaker Dr. Katherine W. Vestal, president of Work Innovations, LLC, will speak about the importance of preparation for what is to come in health care.

Nursing students from the class of 2010 at Northwestern Oklahoma State University have much to celebrate as they enter the nursing profession. Fourteen member of the 2010 nursing class from Northwestern’s three campus locations have given the Division of Nursing a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX ), a required test for nursing graduates.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Division of Nursing conducted research on 193 subjects after learning the skills of Bio-Touch.

Dr. Carole McKenzie, associate professor of nursing and chair at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, spoke at the Sigma Theta Tau 21st International Research Conference in Orlando, Fla., in July.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University nursing graduates will receive their traditional pins in a ceremony at 6 p.m., Friday, May 7, in Herod Hall Auditorium. Nineteen students will be recognized that evening.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University nursing students were featured in this month’s issue of Just Touch News, a newsletter featuring Bio-Touch, a simple, hands-on healing technique that can be used to address all types of health concerns.
