Northwestern Oklahoma State University is going on “Red Alert” for the women’s and men’s basketball games against Harding (Ark.) University in Percefull Fieldhouse Thursday, Feb. 5, at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
As part of Northwestern’s Red Alert promotion, Ranger fans are encouraged to wear red, paint their faces and bring signs to the game. Northwestern will help in this cause by giving the first 700 fans free red Red Alert t-shirts. These shirts will be given away at the main (east) entrance to the Fieldhouse beginning at 5 p.m. All fans are asked to wear red to the game because the t-shirts will disappear quickly. Once fans receive their shirts, they are encouraged to put them on, find their seat and help cheer on the Ranger basketball teams.
The Red Alert promotion is a part of Northwestern’s Spirit Week activities, which includes a free movie at Rialto to the first 100 Northwestern students to arrive on Tuesday, Feb. 3. The Students vs. Faculty basketball game is Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m., after a pep rally at 6:30 p.m., both in Percefull Fieldhouse.
On Thursday, Feb. 5, during the Red Alert event, students in clubs, organizations and sports teams will be involved in a Spirit Contest. These groups will need to register with Kaylyn Hansen, director of student life and counseling, at (580) 327-8439 or firstname.lastname@example.org, by Feb. 4. The groups will need to be at the game at 5 p.m. to sign in and must be present during both games. They also should show Ranger spirit and have a way to show what organization is being represented. No artificial noise makers are allowed.
On Friday, Feb. 6, free foam gloves and hot cocoa will be passed out at the Ranger baseball game at 2 p.m. at Myers Stadium. The Spirit Week events culminate Saturday, Feb. 7, with Ranger men’s and women’s basketball games at 1 and 3 p.m. against Arkansas Monticello in Percefull Fieldhouse.
