Northwestern Foundation Release

Last week, Northwestern Oklahoma State University students called hundreds of donors to thank them for their gifts to the university as part of the first Northwestern Foundation and Alumni Association Thank-a-thon.

Members of Alpha Sigma Alpha, Castle Players, Delta Zeta, Northwestern Scholar Ambassadors, Northwestern Art Society, the Student Oklahoma Education Association, Aggie Club, the rodeo team and the women’s basketball team contacted 1,016 alumni and friends of the university Oct. 24-28.

“It’s really nice to hear the people around town and out of town that just absolutely love this school and that are all about giving to it and supporting us because it’s important to them as well,” said Dusta Kimzey, Strong City sophomore and member of the rodeo team. “The feedback has been all positive, and it has been a great overall experience.”

During the week, 605 thank-you calls were made and 411 notes of thanks were handwritten to those who could not be reached by phone. More than 70 organization members and individuals volunteered during the event.

“I volunteered for the Thank-a-thon because I wanted to let the donors know I really do appreciate what they do for Northwestern,” said Becky Burke, Oilton senior and member of Castle Players. “If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be where I am today because of financial reasons, and I wouldn’t be able to graduate with a college degree. I wanted to let them know just how appreciative we are and how much we actually care for them as students here at Northwestern.”
