Northwestern students encouraged to apply for Fern Brown Scholarship

February 9, 2016

Northwestern Oklahoma State University students interested in applying for the Fern Brown Scholarship are encouraged to do so no later than Tuesday, March 15. Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office in Herod Hall.

Only one applicant may be selected as the institution’s representative in this statewide scholarship competition, said Rita Castleberry, director of financial aid and scholarships. All applications will be evaluated by Northwestern’s Scholarship Committee with the committee making the final selection for submission.

This scholarship was established by the Living Trust Agreement of Fern Brown and is administered by J.P. Morgan.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance for the education of students who have demonstrated above average aptitude for college and university work and who in the absence of aid from this scholarship, might be unable to financially pursue college or university education.

To be eligible, a student must complete the application procedure, be a continuing student or be admissible to a four-year college or university (public or private) in the state of Oklahoma, have demonstrated above average aptitude for college and university work and need financial assistance to pursue her or his college education. Scholarship recipients may submit a renewal application subject to the committee’s consideration of academic progress and continued need.

For more information, please contact Castleberry at (580) 327-8540 or rjcastleberry@nwosu.edu.
