Northwestern students, employees to clean up campus Friday

April 19, 2011

Northwestern Oklahoma State University is teaming up with the Guard Officer Leadership Development (G.O.L.D.) Program and Conserving Our Ranger Environment (CORE) and the Staff Council to enhance the Alva campus with hopes to “Guard the Environment” on Friday.

Campus Clean Up begins at 1 p.m. Volunteers should meet at the water fountain on campus to choose a cleaning project to complete, and come prepared to plant trees and flowers, lay mulch or pick up trash. Other projects also will be available that day.

“In conjunction with the Northwestern G.O.L.D. Program, CORE, and through the work of many volunteers, it is our goal to provide an aesthetically pleasing, eco-friendly environment at Northwestern,” said David Washington, Staff Council chair.

“Through beautification projects and planting of trees we hope to enhance the appearance of the campus and community for future generations to enjoy.”

For more information about this project, contact Sgt. 1st Class Micah Elliott at (580) 327-8121 or or Washington at (580) 327-8647 or

In case of inclement weather, Campus Clean Up day will be moved to April 28.
