A lot can be accomplished when several people come together to work for a common goal as they do here last year during the Northwestern Staff Council’s annual Campus Cleanup event. Students, faculty, staff and administrators join in each year to help plant flowers, pick up trash, paint curbs and more to help the campus look more beautiful. This year’s event on the Alva campus is April 25 with Staff Council members joining volunteers at the Enid and Woodward campuses on May 2 for a similar cleanup event.
Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Staff Council is sponsoring the annual Campus Cleanup Day Monday, April 25, beginning at 1 p.m. on the Alva campus.
All university employees and students are welcome to volunteer their services that afternoon to help give the campus a facelift prior to welcoming alumni and guests back to campus for the annual Spring Reunion Day events on April 30.
Please contact Judy Dollar, Staff Council chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org or (580) 327-8531 by Friday, April 22, with the names of individuals, office workers, faculty members and club or organization members who would like to participate with this service project so that the Staff Council members will know how many volunteers to expect and make job assignments.
All volunteers should meet at 12:45 p.m. on the west side of the Student Center to receive instructions on the projects to be completed for the day. Volunteers also should dress appropriately for outdoor work. Tools, gloves and trash bags will be provided.
In case of inclement weather, Campus Cleanup Day in Alva will be moved to Thursday, April 28.
Staff Council members will be leading a similar event on May 2 at the Woodward campus in the morning and at the Enid campus in the afternoon.
“Staff Council is excited that we have the opportunity to work at all three Northwestern campuses for a cleanup effort. We appreciate all of the volunteers as we could not do it without them.”
Dollar said that everyone is welcome to join in the effort whenever schedules allow.
“If students and employees have time before, between or after classes, any amount of time is appreciated,” Dollar said.
Dollar said that they will be keeping a record of the number of hours volunteered by employees and students so it can be reflected in service learning reporting. Everyone planning to volunteer is asked to sign in and provide the approximate amount of time available to work.
Questions about Campus Cleanup or the Staff Council should be directed to Dollar at email@example.com or (580) 327-8531.
