Northwestern splits doubleheader with Friends

ALVA, Okla. - The Northwestern Oklahoma State University softball team split a doubleheader against Friends College taking game one 7-6 while losing game two 10-3 at home on Wednesday afternoon.

Game One - Box Score

The Lady Rangers (3-1) were able to outslug Friends college and survive game one despite shaky defense. Kellie Mason's RBI single in the bottom of the fifth proved to be the game winner for NWOSU after the Lady Rangers committed four errors in game one.

Kylee Wilson's run-scoring single put the Rangers on the board in the second inning.

After three unearned runs crossed the plate in the top of the third, Northwestern plated three of their own highlighed by a two-run home run by Alyssa Taylor.

Ali Seibel's two-run single to right gave NWOSU a 6-3 lead heading to the fifth inning, but Friends took advantage of more Lady Ranger miscues plating three unearned runs to tie the game at six.

Mason picked up her first save of the season in relief of Jasmine Braxton, who was the winning pitcher for Northwestern.

Seibel finished the game with three RBIs. Taylor and Wilson each had two hits in the game for the Lady Rangers.

Game Two - Box Score

Things didn't go well for Northwestern in game two as the Lady Rangers fell 10-3.

All of Northwestern's offense came in the third inning. Braxton led off the inning with a home run to center. Seibel got a hold of a pitch and crushed it over the right field fence for the Lady Rangers' second run of the game. The other run in the inning scored with the help of an error.

Northwestern was within striking distance down 6-3 in the fourth but a four-run sixth inning put the game out of reach for NWOSU.

Braxton had three hits in the game for the Lady Rangers while Seibel and Monique Zevada each added two.

The Lady Rangers will be back in action Thursday at Oklahoma Christian. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and will be the first Sooner Athletic Conference games of the year for head coach Cody Hooper's group. Live stats will be available at the links below.
