  • Shirleys give back to Northwestern through donation to rodeo program

    May 24, 2013 -- Joe and Ann Shirley of Alva have a long history of giving back to Northwestern Oklahoma State University, or perhaps it’s more of a paying it forward to students who have come after them. The benefactors of the Shirley’s generosity are members of the Northwestern rodeo team. And, all it took for them to want to give back – a love of the university and learning about a need.

  • Alva agri-tour planned for April 18

    April 9, 2013 -- Alumni and friends of Northwestern Oklahoma State University and members of the Alva and surrounding communities are invited on an agri-tour April 18 at 5:30 p.m. The free tour will feature Alva’s Fruits of the Spirit Farm and The Menagerie Bradt’s Mammals and More LLC.

  • Dean Ranson Scholarship awarded

    December 12, 2012 -- This fall, Sarah Melton was awarded the Dean Ranson Scholarship for the 2012-2013 school year at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

  • Northwestern baseball coach receives Reichenberger award

    November 6, 2012 -- Donovan Reichenberger presented Ryan Bay, Northwestern Oklahoma State University head baseball coach, with the Donovan Reichenberger Fundraising Award at the Northwestern Foundation Donor Appreciation Dinner. Bay, the third to be honored with the award, was recognized for solidifying a gift of $346,913 from the Glass family. This gift allowed the baseball team to receive new artificial turf on the infield at Myers Stadium before the start of their spring season.

  • Schuhmacher family legacy continues in Alva

    June 19, 2012 – With a gift of $50,000 to the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation, a scholarship established by the late Dr. John Schuhmacher will give assistance to students in need at his alma mater and continue the Schuhmacher legacy in the Alva community.

  • Applications accepted for Outstanding Senior Award

    February 22, 2012 – Qualifying Northwestern Oklahoma State University graduating seniors are invited to apply for the Outstanding Senior Award by the March 9 deadline. To be eligible, students must be a December 2011 or expected May 2012 graduate with a minimum of 60 hours completed at Northwestern. Applicants must have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or higher and must not have been subject to academic or disciplinary action.

  • Beauty and wellness workshop planned for Jan. 19

    January 13, 2012 -- Friends and alumni of Northwestern Oklahoma State University and members of the Alva and surrounding communities are invited to a beauty and wellness workshop Thursday, Jan. 19, at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom on the Alva campus.

  • Nominations accepted for Barton Distinguished Teaching and Service Award

    Nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7 for the annual John Barton Distinguished Teaching and Service Award. The award carries an honorarium and a plaque, which will be presented to the winner at the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Faculty and Staff Recognition Nov. 15 on the Alva campus.

  • Alumnus, former athlete creates largest scholarship endowment in Northwestern history

    Earl Overton faced seemingly overwhelming obstacles in his dream to become a football coach. But a borrowed set of football pads, a tremendous work ethic and an athletic scholarship to Northwestern Oklahoma State University made Overton’s dream come true.

  • Northwestern 2011 Outstanding Seniors, other awards announced

    Six Northwestern Oklahoma State University seniors receiving the Outstanding Senior Award are among the award recipients at this year’s Spring Reunion Day Awards Ceremony April 30 at 5:15 p.m. in the Student Center Ranger Room on the Alva campus. A committee selected Chrystal Benson, Crystal Herber, Vince Lauderdale, Xin Xin Liu, Kasya Spade and Grayson Starbuck as 2011 Outstanding Seniors.

  • Northwestern Outstanding Graduates to be honored April 30

    Northwestern Oklahoma State University Alumni Association will honor seven Outstanding Graduates during its annual Spring Reunion Banquet on Saturday, April 30 at 6 p.m. The honored alumni include: Charles L. Stuckey, class of 1961, Outstanding Business/Professional Award; Keith Edward Ballard, Ed.D., M.Ed. 1975, Outstanding Education Award; Barbara Kay Duncan, class of 1969, Outstanding Humanitarian Award; Manny Gamallo, class of 1973, Outstanding Arts Award; Allison Woods, class of 2007, Outstanding Recognition Award; Angelia Case, class of 1984, Ranger Recognition Award; and Valarie Case, class of 1985, Ranger Recognition Award.
