Members of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University jazz band will participate in a jazz festival in Weatherford on Friday.
Northwestern’s band will be among other regional university, high school and middle school bands at the festival at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
The featured artist this is year is Kris Berg and The Metroplexity Big Band. Festival performances are open to the public and school groups often attend performances after receiving their comments and rating.
Northwestern will perform at 12:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
Members of the Northwestern jazz band include Amy Minkles, Turpin senior, saxophone; Richard Barber, Laverne freshman, saxophone; Adeline Sleeger, Perry freshman, saxophone; Amanda Metcalf, Enid freshman, clarinet; Arthur Bohlmann, Hooker senior, trombone; Evan Vaverka, Hennessey senior, trombone; Don Beadles, Alva post-graduate, trombone; Megan Metcalf, Enid freshman, trumpet; Scott Bartley, Enid senior, trumpet; Connor Swenke, Ochelata junior, percussion; Austin Mount, Garber freshman, percussion; Daniel Pacula, Hennessey sophomore, guitar; Tori Hurley, Sheffield, Iowa, freshman, piano.
The jazz band also will feature Dr. Shawn Holliday, associate dean of graduate studies, playing the bass. The jazz band is under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Drobnak, assistant professor of fine arts.
