The Northwestern Foundation & Alumni Association kicks off the holiday season by participating in the global #GivingTuesday movement to launch its new annual giving program, RISE (Rangers Investing in Students & Education). With the goal of increasing scholarship opportunities for Northwestern students, all annual gifts received through Dec. 1 will be matched up to $10,000 by an anonymous donor.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on Dec. 1, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely-recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It kick-offs the holiday giving season and inspires people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
In conjunction with the release of its new giving program, RISE, the Northwestern Foundation & Alumni Association joins the movement to encourage every person to give at some level. This philanthropy helps ensure Northwestern students’ scholarship support continues at the level needed to sustain excellent performance. By securing a matching gift from a generous donor, all gifts received between Nov. 5 through Dec. 1 are eligible for the #GivingTuesday matching gift of up to $10,000.
“We are looking forward to seeing the results of our first on-line fundraising event,” said Skeeter Bird, CEO, Northwestern Foundation & Alumni Association. “The generosity of an anonymous donor from Ponca City, with the commitment of a matching pledge, demonstrates the spirit of our Northwestern Rangers. We are confident that our Ranger family will again excel in support of Northwestern students.”
Those who choose to give to Northwestern students during the #GivingTuesday campaign are encouraged to follow the Northwestern Foundation & Alumni Association’s social media accounts to stay informed on the progress being made.
