KANSAS CITY, Mo. (10-11-11) — Following Saturday’s big victory over then No. 10 Southern Nazarene, the Northwestern Oklahoma State University football team finds themselves back in the top 25.
When the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Coaches Top 25 was release late Monday, the Rangers (3-3, 2-0) were listed at No. 23, tied with Eastern Oregon.
Entering the contest last week, the Rangers were receiving a vote in the ranking. Northwestern were a preseason No. 13, released on Aug. 8, but hasn’t dawned the list since then.
Other notable rankings is Southern Nazarene who dropped five spots following the loss to the Rangers, 28-12, to No. 15, and Langston who is on the outside looking in with 19 votes. The Rangers will take on the Langston Lions in their next home game at 2 p.m. on Oct. 22.
Saint Xavier (Ill.) has been voted the top team in the land for the fifth consecutive week.
Northwestern takes the field this Saturday at the Indian Bowl in Muskogee for a 2 p.m. matchup with conference foe Bacone College. Ranger head coach Keith Barefield is searching for win No. 100 as an NAIA head coach.
