PLAINVIEW, Texas - Things got out of hand early for the Northwestern Oklahoma State University men's basketball team in a 97-79 loss against Wayland Baptist on Thursday evening.
A 12-0 run by Wayland put Northwestern down 24-10 in the early going. The Rangers (11-17, 8-13 Sooner Athletic Conference) never could recover. NWOSU shot just 28 percent from the field in the first half, a major reason they were far behind. NWOSU went to the locker room down 17.
Northwestern shot far better in the second half shooting 53 percent but Wayland was feeling it all night shooting 58 percent in the first half and 76 percent in the second half.
Daryl Glover led the Rangers with 16 points while Jonathan Freemyer added 13.
The loss makes the Ranger postseason outlook bleak as the squad is a full game behind Oklahoma City with one game to go for the eighth and final spot in the SAC Tournament. Mid-America Christian is also tied with the Rangers in ninth.
The final game of the regular season for the Rangers will be a 3 p.m. Saturday affair at Lubbock Christian. Live Stats, video and audio will be available here.
