ALVA, Okla. – Four Rangers contributed 67 points in Northwestern’s 75-59 victory over Mid-America Christian on Thursday afternoon, as NWOSU evened its SAC conference record to 3-3 and overall record to 8-6.
Catrell Currie came out of the gates hot and hit the games first four three-pointers to give the Rangers a 14-4 advantage. Northwestern shot 45 percent in the opening half and went into the locker room with a 36-26 lead.
Northwestern extended the margin to 13 points as Brandon Brown hit a trey to open the second half, but a 15-4 run by the Evangels left NWOSU ahead just 43-41 at the 14:06 mark.
The Evangels brought the game to its second tie, 45-45, but Northwestern warded off MACU and scored the final seven points of the game to gain its third SAC win of the season.
Brandon Dixon scored a personal best with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds, hitting nine field goals. He was followed by 17 points from Currie, including five three’s. Brandon Brown and Termaine Snyder tallied 16 points each. Just Porter added six points and David Holmes added a bucket for the Rangers 75 points.
The Rangers canned 48 percent and held MACU to 38 percent.
Mid-America was led by Tyron Goldsmith’s 14 points.
Northwestern (8-6, 3-3) hosts No. 11 Oklahoma City University at Percefull Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 8 p.m.
