Northwestern education students receive scholarships

 Woods County Retired Educators

Northwestern Oklahoma State University education students were awarded with scholarships from the Woods County Retired Educators (WCRE) and the Guthrie Scottish Rite Charitable and Educational Foundation.

Irene Sanchez, Blackwell senior, and Christine Vickers, Alva senior, received the WCRE scholarship for being an outstanding senior education student.  WCRE elects its recipients based on academic record and campus involvement. The student must be classified as a senior.

Three education seniors received the Guthrie Scottish Rite Scholarship. Those recipients are math education student, Yesenia Buckhaults of Buffalo; elementary education student, Brittney Crump of Cleveland, Okla.; and elementary and special education student, Denise Tyson of Ponca City.

The Guthrie Scottish Rite Charitable and Educational Foundation works primarily with children with language and/or reading disorders.  Each semester the organization awards scholarships to teacher candidates who are completing their professional semester.
