BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — BigUSports.com is proud to announce the Player of the Week awards for this past weekends college football action across the state of Oklahoma, as the organization honors Korey Williams of Northwestern Oklahoma State, Armonty Bryant, and Markell Walker, both of East Central.
Williams, a senior from New Orleans, was named the Offensive Player of the Week after having a career day where he pulled in a Northwestern school record of 14 catches. He finished the 79-20 Rangers victory with 156-yards and a touchdown.
Williams currently leads the Central States Football League with eight receptions a game, receiving yards a game with 86.7, and second in total receiving yards with 260.
The Defensive Player of the Week honor goes to Bryant. A defensive end from Wichita Falls, Texas, Bryant picked off a pass late in the game against Southwestern Oklahoma State, returning it 65-yards for a touchdown.
The sophomore finished the contest with six tackles, two for loss, and was in on 1.5 sacks.
A teammate of Bryant, Walker picks up the Special Teams Player of the Week award. Walker put the Tigers on the board early with a 38-yard punt return for a touchdown. A freshman out of Midwest City, Okla., Walker had five punt returns for 90 yards and the touchdown. The Tigers blanked the Bulldogs, 23-0.
East Central (1-3, 1-0) takes the field Saturday night in a Lone Star Conference North Division showdown with Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
Northwestern (1-2, 1-0) travels to Rolla, Mo., for their third NCAA opponent in four games as they face Missouri University of Science and Technology at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
