ALVA, Okla. – John Brown scored three goals in the first 17 minutes of the game to take and sit on a 3-0 lead, defeating Northwestern 3-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference action at the Alva Rec. Complex on Saturday, Oct. 25. With the loss, Northwestern sits at 2-12-1 overall and is 2-7 in conference play.
John Brown scored quick and took a 1-0 lead during the fifth minute of play. Just more than ten minutes later, the Golden Eagles received an own goal, after a Ranger player deflected a ball into the net. JBU followed a minute later with another goal and the Ranger defense held them scoreless for the remainder of the game.
Ashley Guinn scored the lone Ranger goal and team leading fifth of the season on an assist from Hannah Layden during the 72 minute.
Kelsey Archer stopped 14 shots as the Golden Eagles fired 27 shots, including 17 on goal. Northwestern was accurate on 10 shots, hitting seven shots on target.
Northwestern’s next match will be its final home game on Thursday, Oct. 30. The Rangers will host Baker University at 5:30 p.m.
