Northwestern business professor completes financial planning program

Dr. Jerry GustafsonDr. Jerry Gustafson, professor of business at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, has completed Kansas State University’s Personal Financial Planning Graduate Certificate Program, and is now qualified by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) to teach undergraduate finance courses at Northwestern.

The program he completed consists of six graduate courses that are prerequisites to take the Certified Financial Planner Exam.

Gustafson’s career path began in mathematics, then transformed into computer science, e-commerce and now finance. He began his transition to the area of finance in June 2006 when he attended conferences and workshops in the trading of stocks and options. In January 2007, he took online courses in the trading of stocks and options. Three years later in January 2010, he started the Personal Financial Planning Graduate Certificate Program at Kansas State University.

Gustafson has used his intense study and research to advance his scholarly productivity and has presented papers at regional, national and international conferences. Some of his most recent presentations have taken him to Dallas, Orlando, Fla., Fort Hays, Kan., and Zhengzhou, China.

This summer Gustafson plans to take the Certified Financial Planner exam.
