Finish the spring cleaning but don’t feel like having a garage sale? Then let the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) members sell the found-treasures at a rummage sale Saturday, June 23, at 8:30 a.m. in the Runnymede Hotel in downtown Alva.
NAS is planning this fundraiser to benefit Bradley Gilbert, a 2007 Northwestern alumnus and member of the group who lost his battle with leukemia on Monday, June 11, at his home in Enid.
“Art Society members just want to be there for Bradley’s family and help any way we can because Bradley was always so willing to help us and others,” Angelia Case, sponsor of NAS, said. “Raising money to help with expenses is one way we can help.”
The Art Society is asking people in Alva and the surrounding communities to donate their garage sale items to the cause. These items may be taken to the Runnymede any time after 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 22.
“If any large, donated item does not sell, we may need to contact the person who donated it to come back and retrieve it because we simply have nowhere to store it or a vehicle large enough to transport it anywhere,” Case said.
NAS members also plan to incorporate another bake sale during the rummage sale, and welcome any donation of goodies as well.
“The people at Northwestern, in Alva and the surrounding communities have been so generous in supporting our fundraising efforts, and we are truly thankful,” Case said. “Please know that Bradley’s family has indicated its heartfelt thanks.”
For more information about the rummage sale or to volunteer to help with it, please contact Case at (580) 327-8577 or email@example.com. Monetary donations can be mailed to her at 709 Oklahoma Blvd., Alva, OK 73717.
An online giving location has been established for anyone who would like to help raise funds for the Gilbert Family and doesn't have rummage or bake sale items to donate to the June 23 sale or would rather not mail in a check. Please visit http://bit.ly/MnhLmu .
