Emphasizing the strong connections between alumni and former students, the homecoming committee at Northwestern Oklahoma State University has selected “Reconnect: From Yearbook to Facebook” as its theme for the 2010 celebration.
Homecoming is scheduled for Sept. 23-25.
“The theme serves as a reminder of the strong bond between Northwestern and its students, both young and old,” said Steve Valencia, associate vice president for university relations and chairman of the homecoming committee. “The tools we use to stay connected to Northwestern may be changing, but the end result is that we are all Rangers.”
Valencia said he also hopes the theme will encourage former students who have lost communication with Northwestern to reengage with their alma mater.
“The alumni who have not returned to campus in some time are amazed at the progress that has been made,” Valencia said. “We want all of our alums to return to Alva and Northwestern to see this progress first-hand.”
Valencia said he hopes that builders of homecoming parade floats will choose a particular decade in Northwestern’s history as the theme for their entries.
