Northwestern announces 2016 homecoming theme, parade marshal

March 28, 2016

After reviewing several submissions, the Northwestern Oklahoma State University/Alva Homecoming committee selected “Rangers: League of Heroes” as the 2016 theme.

The homecoming theme was suggested by Dr. Richmond Adams, assistant professor of English at Northwestern and float chairman on the Homecoming Committee.

Student and community groups are encouraged to create a float that incorporates this theme for Homecoming, which is set for Sept. 29 through Oct. 1.

Leading the parade on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m. in downtown Alva will be the parade marshal Dr. Linda Stewart, retired professor of speech and director of theatre at Northwestern, who retired in 2002 after 35 years of teaching.

For the submission, Adams will receive $25 in Alva Chamber Bucks and a Homecoming button. Homecoming button sales will be announced at a later date.

“Members of the Homecoming Committee have been working hard toward getting plans finalized for this annual celebration at Northwestern,” Dr. David Pecha, general chairman, said.
