ALVA, Okla. – After 110 minutes of scoreless soccer at the Alva Rec. Complex, Northwestern and East Central ended in a 0-0 tie in a make up match on Tuesday. The tie was the Rangers first of the season as they advanced to 1-3-1 on the year.
In a game which wind was a factor, the opposition fired off more than fivefold as many shots as Northwestern, shooting 36 times to the Ranger’s seven. ECU fired off 21 shots in the opening half and followed that with five in the first overtime and two in the second. Northwestern got off six shots in regulation and one in the final overtime.
Northwestern tallied four of the seven shots on goal, while East Central had 16-of-36 on target.
Kelsey Archer’s hard work in the goal allowed her to come up with 16 saves in the net for the Rangers as the Northwestern defense stood strong.
Northwestern’s next match will be on Friday, Sept. 19 at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, N.M. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
