Looking to expand its boundaries and add value to its campus, Northwestern Oklahoma State University has acquired the former Texaco service station property located at the southeast corner of U.S. highways 281 and 64 in Alva.
Northwestern completed the purchase on June 17.
“It is in our strategic interest to acquire adjacent property that may benefit the university and its students,” said Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president.
“Because of its high-traffic location, we have explored the acquisition of this property for some time and are pleased that we were able to complete the transaction.”
Cunningham said there are no definite long-term plans for the property, but that demolition of part of the property will likely occur.
