Jan. 11, 2011

Northwestern Alumni Association Release

The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Alumni Association is now accepting nominations for its Outstanding Graduate program. Nominees must be a former student who has demonstrated recognizable accomplishment in his or her profession, business, avocation or service in a way that brings pride and honor to Northwestern.

To make a nomination by the Feb. 1 deadline, send a letter of nomination to Lizabeth Richey, Alumni Association Director, 709 Oklahoma Blvd., Alva, OK 73717 or by e-mail to lrrichey@nwosu.edu.

The Northwestern Alumni Association established the Outstanding Graduates program in 1973 to pay tribute to alumni achievement.

Beginning in 1977, awards were presented in specific fields: business/professional, education and humanitarian.

In 1984, the Recognition Award was added to honor someone who has made significant achievements within five years of graduation. Last year, for the first time, a graduate was recognized in the arts field.

A category of achievement need not be specified at the time of nomination. The category will be determined by the selection committee.
The Northwestern Alumni Association will recognize Outstanding Graduates during the annual Spring Reunion Banquet on Saturday, April 30.

For more information or for assistance compiling nomination information, contact Richey at 580-327-8594 or lrrichey@nwosu.edu.
