April 29, 2013 -- It is on rare occasions that special people come into others’ lives for just a fleeting moment and profoundly inspire them to make a difference. That is exactly the effect that Judith “Judy” Jenlink had on David Bradley, a Northwestern Oklahoma State University alumnus and former faculty member from Stillwater. In fact, Jenlink, who passed away in February 2012, so inspired Bradley that he established the Judy Jenlink Language Arts Scholarship at Northwestern to honor her memory.

March 15, 2013 -- Supporting agriculture and education is not a new idea to Don and Wanda Campbell of Jet. The couple, who are both retired educators, established an endowed faculty chair in agriculture in 2007 at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. With the growing demand for quality agriculture education programs, the Campbells’ gift helped to build the excellent program that Northwestern now offers.

March 8, 2013 -- For Joan Talley Fisher, music was not just a hobby but a vocation that she pursued from a very early age. Beginning with piano and clarinet lessons, Fisher’s skills grew and she was able to help finance her college education by giving piano lessons.

October 23, 2012 -- Northwestern Oklahoma State University's annual Ranger Preview event for high school seniors will take place Saturday, Nov. 3, at 8 a.m. in Percefull Fieldhouse.

October 1, 2012 -- Terry Ross from Community Bank awarded two Northwestern Oklahoma State University freshmen with a scholarship for attending Ranger Preview last year. This scholarship is awarded in the fall of their first semester at Northwestern. Scholarship recipients are Samantha Cox of Buffalo and Stetson Vore of Cherokee.

September 13, 2012 -- The Northwestern Foundation and Alumni Association is offering an opportunity for students to showcase their talent and creativity with a chance to win up to $1,000 in scholarship support.

June 19, 2012 – With a gift of $50,000 to the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation, a scholarship established by the late Dr. John Schuhmacher will give assistance to students in need at his alma mater and continue the Schuhmacher legacy in the Alva community.

This fall, Northwestern Oklahoma State University students from Newkirk will benefit from $20,000 in scholarship support provided by an anonymous donor.

Beginning next fall, Northwestern Oklahoma State University students will receive scholarship support from the newly established Rule of Law Education Fund. The fund, totaling $500,000, was endowed by order of the Honorable Gerald H. Riffe, associate district judge for the District Court of Beaver County, as part of a class action cy pres distribution in which Northwestern is a beneficiary.

Earl Overton faced seemingly overwhelming obstacles in his dream to become a football coach. But a borrowed set of football pads, a tremendous work ethic and an athletic scholarship to Northwestern Oklahoma State University made Overton’s dream come true.

Allison Lauderdale, Woodward sophomore, has been awarded the Randy Murrow Memorial Scholarship at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Lauderdale has been chosen based on her academic achievements, participation in leadership and student activities and her overall general attitude. She is a psychology major.

Deann Lanman, Cherokee junior, is the recipient of a scholarship from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. 

Community Bank offered four Northwestern Oklahoma State University freshmen scholarships during Ranger Preview last fall. Students must attend Northwestern for a year in order to receive the scholarship.

Cali Crissup of Helena, a sophomore at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, has been awarded the $1,000 Scholastic Achievement Award from the Miss America Organization in conjunction with the Miss Oklahoma Pageant, currently underway in Tulsa.

Clarissa Fifield, Woodward sophomore and social work major at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, has received a $500 scholarship named after a Woodward woman, Alberta Stout.

Students majoring in human resources at Northwestern Oklahoma State University are urged to apply for a scholarship from the Enid chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management scholarship (SHRM). Entry deadline is June 30.

Each year, Gary and Karen Adams give back to their community and Karen’s alma mater, Northwestern Oklahoma State University. To date, their annual gifts to the university have formed a scholarship endowment worth more than $20,000.

Robyn Jane Walker, Alva sophomore, has been awarded the Randy Murrow Memorial Scholarship at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Walker has been chosen based on her academic achievements, participation in leadership and student activities. She is an elementary education major.

Decades in the education field and a lifetime of connections with young people led Clara Simon to establish an endowed scholarship at her and her husband Dean’s alma mater, Northwestern State College, now Northwestern Oklahoma State University, in 1996. The scholarship, for students in Northwestern’s teacher education program or for those pursuing a health-related degree, was a fitting choice for the lifelong educators.

An anonymous donor has contributed $50,000 to the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation to establish the Linda J. Stewart and Kimberly K. Weast Theatre Scholar Award and is issuing a challenge for the gift to be matched.

The family of the late Dub Garnett has donated $20,000 to endow the W.G. “Dub” Garnett Memorial Scholarship through the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation. This scholarship is Dub’s perpetual gift of help for those who need it. Any student with a 2.5 GPA living in Woods County or northwest Oklahoma may apply for this scholarship with preference given in business or agribusiness.

Students majoring in business, e-commerce and agriculture (BEA) were recognized for receiving scholarships for the 2008-2009 year at the annual BEA Awards Ceremony at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Kasya Frech, Helena sophomore, has been awarded the Randy Murrow Memorial Scholarship at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Frech is the chosen recipient based on her academic achievements, participation in leadership and student activities, and her general attitude toward life. She is a psychology major.

A great debater. Sports fanatic. Family man. Billy Parkenfarker? All of these can be attributed to one man, Don Benson. In his 70 years on this earth, he did the things he loved and loved the people that surrounded him, none more than his family. So it was only right that the family he loved establish a scholarship in his honor. The Don and Donna Benson Family Scholarship was established for students attending Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University and the Northwestern Foundation, Inc. will kick off the Alva Scholarship Drive on Tuesday, Feb. 17, and it will run through March 10. On-Campus and Off-Campus Chairpersons, team captains, and team members will meet on Tuesday to finalize their lists and get ready for another successful year.

Dr. Carole McKenzie, associate professor of nursing and nursing division chair, and Skeeter Bird, chief executive officer of the Northwestern Foundation and Alumni Association, accept a donation to establish the Woodward Regional Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship for juniors and seniors in Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s nursing program.
