Nearly 40 kids from Alva, Waynoka, Dacoma and Kiowa, Kan., have been on the Northwestern Oklahoma State University campus for the Alva Summer Art Camp. With instruction from camp leader Ken Kelsey, and session instructors Susan Hendricks, Susan Parent, Angelia Case and Valarie Case, the kids have been participating in various activities such as painting t-shirts, drawing, and making items from recyclable materials. Members of the NWOSU Art Society also served as volunteers during the camp. Students showed some of their art work at the Nescatunga Art Show this weekend in downtown Alva. The Alva Summer Arts Camp is sponsored in part through funding by the Oklahoma Arts Council, Northwestern Art Society and Freedom West Community Development Corporation.
