ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern completed a perfect three-game homestand sweep after pounding the No. 24 Oklahoma City Stars, 79-49, at Percefull Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 10.
Northwestern held Oklahoma City to 17 points in the first half, as the Ranger defense allowed OCU to shoot just 13 percent (3-of-23), including only one three-pointer.
In the first half, NWOSU held a 13-point, 15-2 lead at the 14:11 mark and led by as much as 28 points before coming to a 42-17 halftime lead.
The Rangers continued to put it on Oklahoma City as they held a more than 17-point lead and pulled away by as much as 32 points.
Brandon Brown, who scored 51 points this week, led the Rangers for the second consecutive night with 20 points. Brown hit three treys and had seven assists. Catrell Currie and Justin Porter kicked in 11 points each, while Jackson Kajander and Brandon Dixon both scored eight.
The Rangers hit 44 percent from the floor and nailed 10-of-31 three’s for 32 percent. Northwestern held OCU, who was led by Jamel White’s 13 points, to just 29 percent shooting on the night. The Stars hit just four three’s and finished 17-of-24 from the free throw line.
NWOSU held a big rebounding advantage, outmanning the Stars on the boards 48-29.
Northwestern (9-6, 4-3) travels to Chickasha on Thursday, Jan. 15 to meet the University of Science and Arts for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
