February 5, 2013 -- Dr. Aaron Mason, associate professor of political science, and Dr. Eric Schmaltz, associate professor of history at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, are pleased to announce the publication of the first annual volume of “Civitas: Journal of Citizenship Studies” through the Northwestern Institute for Citizenship Studies and the Department of Social Sciences.

December 5, 2012 -- Dr. Aaron Mason, associate professor of political science, and Dr. Eric Schmaltz, associate professor of history at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, co-authored a recent article in the Oklahoma Political Science Association’s annual volume Oklahoma Politics.

September 28, 2012 -- The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Social Sciences Department and the Institute for Citizenship Studies are pleased to play host to Dr. Steven B. Rogers on Monday, Oct. 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Herod Hall Auditorium as part of its Annual Cultural Heritage Lecture Series.

March 28, 2012 -- The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Social Sciences Department and the Institute for Citizenship Studies, in conjunction with the Oklahoma Humanities Council, proudly announce an upcoming Summer Teachers’ Workshop on the American Civil War. The workshop will be held at Northwestern-Alva on June 11-14.

March 13, 2012 -- The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Institute for Citizenship Studies and the Department of Social Sciences proudly announces its annual Presidential Lecture Series for 2012. This year’s topic will be “Herbert Hoover – President and Humanitarian.” The program will be held on Monday, April 2, at 7 p.m. at the Graceful Arts Center located at 523 Barnes Street in downtown Alva.
